Homer, AK: Deep Sea Fishing
>> Tuesday, September 9, 2008
So now that we are home from our trip, I hope that I can finish up the exciting honeymoon pictures!
Deep sea fishing was so much fun. The boat we were on, called Memory Makers and chartered by Captain Bruce, typically carries 6 to 8 passengers for fishing. Well that day there were only two. Myself and Dauge. And it was so awesome, too! We were halibet fishing and the "rules" were that each person can only have two fish. So we had to chose wisely! We ended up with about 80 lbs of fish and 35 - 40 lbs of filets to bring home. They came in the mail today - so I sure hope they're delicious!!
The weather on the day of was amazing. It was so clear that we could see all five volcanos across the water. It turned out to be a very nice day. The sun was shining on us and there was a slight breeze. It was even "no jacket" weather - in Alaska!
I don't think I mentioned our cute little rental car yet... We asked for a compact car, I believe, but they didn't have any left. They tried to give Dauge a truck for the same price as the compact car - but gas is SO expensive! So we asked for an economy...a little Chevy Cobalt.
